NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE AREA REPRESENTED IN WASHINGTON D.C. FLYOVER ON JULY 4TH

The Champaign Aviation Museum of Urbana, Ohio will honor our country and veterans by flying their B-25 Champaign Gal over our nation’s capital during the military aircraft flyovers at the Salute to America celebration in Washington, D.C. on July 4th.

Pilot-in-command of this flight will be 747 pilot (ret.) Bill Clark, and second-in-command will be Navy pilot (ret.), Bill Weidenhammer.  Joining them in the aircraft will be Crew Chief, Randy Kemp, and Assistant Crew Chief, Tom Printz.

“I’ve been flying since 1968 and it’s an honor to be flying in support of the July 4 celebration.  I’m proud to represent the Champaign Aviation Museum and all that they do to honor our veterans,” says Clark.

This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II and the Champaign Aviation Museum is a proud participant in the Homefront to Warfront Trail Tour.  Ten of Ohio’s Museums, including three from the National Aviation Heritage Area, featuring WWII history have joined forces to offer this new, drive-it-yourself trail to celebrate the historic anniversary.  The tour kicks-off this summer and runs through the end of the year, but will highlight veteran recognition from August 15 to September 2, the 75th Anniversaries of Victory in Japan Day and the formal signing of the Instrument of Surrender on board the USS Missouri.  In total, there are 500 miles of WWII history.  Trail maps will be available at each location or you can download a map at https://tinyurl.com/yagjsjs8.
